Part one of Bloomington South’s busy weekend. This will be treat for you Dave Leno fans out there as we switch things up and have Dave call this one with Galen doing color. Martinsville may be the underdog but they surely won’t go down without a fight. See it here.
This game will air on Channel 81 Wednesday Jan. 27 at 5pm and 10pm. As always the games are also available on ComCast On Demand (Channel 1)

Did you guys get the franklin central game?
I think the guys made the trip. Jeff, having trouble viewing this game.
I like Leno on the call. Good job guys once again.
Didnt mean that galen wasnt good enough for the color, i think both are great i just like that northeastern accent. I practice it in my spare time ……
I like your productions. Hopefully will continue next season, which surely will be axciting also for the panthers. With Turner carlino and davis returning and forney also derrick marks and , the young guy tj bell(?) . Next season should be a good one as well , although south will lose some good bench players this season.
The Franklin Central game is now up.
We plan on doing this again next year starting with football. It all depends on advertising. We started late for this season but we hope to get enough sponsorships to keep Monroe County sports on the air this fall.
With enough sponsorships we can get all three Monroe Co. schools on channel 81.
If you need some help doing south football games im your man. I know all about the entire history of the school. Started in 1873 as bloomington high. The optimist newspaper was started in the 1800′s not sure what year but is still used as souths school paper. the gothic yearbook started in 1909 and is still used by south. They were the Purple panthers in the 1800′s i have a pic or thier 1898 football team although i couldnt find any coverage of H.S. sports in the microfilm that early. The bloomington high school was with the university in the early years , I.U. had thier student teachers at bloomington high and so forth until they built university high then the university forgot about bloomington high and were in conjunction with universoty high instead. In the early 60′s the city planners planned the new bloomington high which is Bloomington South high school now. Lost of folks think that after the seminary building burned in 66 that thats when they built nporth and they split the blooomington high into two schools, but that is very incorrect. I have researched the old newspaper microfilms. Bloomington high moved into the current location that is now bloomington south in 1965. The seminary building was turned into “central” middle school until it burned in i think 66 or 67. The city then decided to consolidate University high and unionville high and some of Bloomington high into a new school they built called bloomington north in 1972. South though kept everything the same , same yearbook newspaper techers scghool colors ect ect .All they did was changed the name. Bloomington South (bloomington high) is 4 th in the state in all time state titles. 24 wrestling titles some of which dont count towards the overall state title tally because they were before the IHSAA sponsored wrestling. Several swimming titles 2 baskeball titles (1919,2009) two football titles, 1 base ball title and i think maybe 1 or two others that im forgetting. Here is the link to prove it:

HEre’s another link to prove the wrestling titles, when you get to this link if you copy and paste it in your web address bar above you have to then click on Most state titles.

I have alot more info if anyone is interested in more knowlege of this.
I’m thinking it might be cool to do a series of short history vignettes to show at half time. I’m planning on putting together a team of interns to do little features so I’ll be in touch.
